Painter Injured in Overturning Boom

10/2/15

Allentown, Pennsylvania

A man painting the underside of a bridge carrying the Interstate 78 highway in Allentown, Pennsylvania, was badly injured yesterday when he managed to overturn the boom lift he was working from.

The boom lift, a JLG 800 series, tipped over backwards with the man falling around 12 meters. We do not know yet if he was wearing a harness and stayed in the basket, or if he was thrown clear.

The boom on he lift was fully elevated and it looks as though it was driven up the slope causing the machine to lose stability. The local Salisbury township police said the man was conscious and talking after the incident, but had most likely suffered some bone fractures.
