Boom Truck Tips in Pittsburgh

07/6/15

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

A boom truck overturned on Friday at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania due to improper outrigger set up.

The crane, owned by Franco Masonry, was being used to lift supplies on the roof at the Langley Hall residences when the operator slewed over the side of the truck, having forgotten to set one of the front outriggers. The crane went over with the boom landing on the roof of the building preventing a full overturn and more serious damage. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.

The crane was recovered and the operator sent home, pending drug tests and the results of an investigation into what exactly occurred. Work colleagues have already stated that one of the outriggers was not set.
