Fatal Bucket Truck Overturn

Aberdeen, South Dakota

A man died and another was seriously injured when a bucket truck overturned in Aberdeen, South Dakota last Friday.

The lift was working on overhead lights in the car park of a Wal-Mart store at a height of around six meters, with the lower boom at a shallow angle when the truck, which was not stabilized, went over backwards.

The knuckle at the top of the lower boom hit the ground and caused a catapult effect which ejected the two men, working from separate fiberglass buckets.
