ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WJBK) –
A crane operator was able to escape severe injury after his machine tipped over at a St. Clair Shores marina.
The accident happed at the Island Harbor Marina along Jefferson Ave., just north of 9 Mile Road Friday morning.
The operator was said to have forgotten to set the crane’s outriggers
St Clair Shores Fire Department Battalion Chief Walt Jenuwine says the crane tipped while it was transferring a heavy piece of machinery from a truck onto a boat. The man was lifting a welder onto a boat but had not extended the crane’s outriggers causing it to overturn as he slewed over the side. He was trapped in the cab when his foot got caught.
