A construction crane at a condominium site in Bangkok fell to the ground on Saturday and crushed two workers to death. The crane is believed to be a tower crane.
The crane fell from the fifth floor of the Supalai Park condominium in Soi Phetkasem 25/3 opposite Siam University in Phasicharoen district.
Workers were using the crane to complete work on a swimming pool and a garden for the 36-storey building, police said.
The crane had been brought in to lift sandbags from the ground to use in the area around the pool. It fell over around noon while it was moving sandbags weighting about one tonne each, killing two workers identified only as Mub and Bin, police said.
The two men were believed to have been Cambodian nationals working for the contractor.
The high-rise condominium building is still under with about 80% of the work completed.
