The incident happened near the area of Hilltop Circle and Walker Avenue in Catonsville, where construction is under way. No one injured during incident, university officials say
University officials confirmed that one of the construction cranes that was sitting on a hill near the campus’ West Hill apartment building fell into some scaffolding, causing some damage, apart to the crane itself. The unit was a four axle Grove truck crane owned by local company Chesapeake Crane Service.
They said that building is currently vacant and undergoing renovations.
The crane was working with most of its main boom extended and swing-away extension stowed. The boom narrowly missed the corner of the new building and landed on some facade scaffold.
There’s no word yet on what caused the crane to fall. UMBC officials are investigating.
