A self-propelled boom lift overturned in Lismore, Australia earlier this morning injuring the two men working in the platform.
The men, both 42 years old, were using the boom lift – a Genie Z-45 – to hang a large banner on the front of a store when one of its rear wheels broke through a steel grate housing telecommunication wires, causing the machine to overturn backwards.
The men were working at a height of around six metres and sustained injuries to their heads. Local reports confirm that they are in a serious but stable condition, however they are likely to be well enbough to be released from hospital in the next couple of days.
WorkCover is investigating the incident.
