A crane accident left its operator seriously injured yesterday afternoon near the West Hollywood border.
According to the LA Fire Department public information officer, “A[n a]dult male crane operator reportedly rode [his] crane down as it fell, suffered serious leg injury.”
The accident occurred at 735 N La Cienega Boulevard, on the site of the NMS Properties Luxe @ 375 mixed-use development, a 5-story, 125-unit apartment building at La Cienega Boulevard and Westmount Drive.
Aerial video footage shot by NBC4 showed how the crane had fallen off the edge of a wall into the underground parking dig, where it lay supported by its boom on the ground.
All lanes were closed on La Cienega Boulevard during the fire-rescue response.
The crane operator, who worked for Frymer Construction, was reported to have a “serious injury to the leg” and was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
