Fort Lauderdale, Florida
A veteran tree trimmer who was shocked Tuesday afternoon while trying to cut down a towering tree remained hospitalized, officials said.
City officials said on Wednesday that previous information they received indicating that the unidentified worker had died was incorrect.
The incident happened about 3:20 p.m. in the 2600 block of Southwest 12th Terrace, Matt Little, spokesman for the city of Fort Lauderdale, said.
The West Palm Beach-based work crew had spent most of the day trying to take down a 40-foot kapok tree with the help of a crane. Neighbors said the tree had been there for at least 50 years.
