On Wednesday, August 17 at about 1:40 p.m. the Milam County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an accident at a construction site off of County Road 135 in the Northern part of Milam County or Burlington area.
It was reported that a 49 year old Hispanic male was struck by a pulley-block when it broke loose from a crane at the site. Texas Highway Patrol Sergeant Mike Nix and Deputies Mendoza and Beathard arrived at the scene along with American Medical Response and the Cameron and Burlington Fire Departments. Evidence at the scene showed that a cable broke on the crane’s pulley system causing the pulley-block to fall and strike the worker below.
The worker was transported via helicopter to Scott and White in Temple, his status and injuries are unknown, however he was conscious and alert at the scene.
