Fort Myers, Florida
A Posen Construction employee continues to recover in Lee Memorial Hospital after a crane fell on him Monday afternoon.
The crane boom toppled at about 2 p.m. on Tom Maines, 58, according to a report from the Fort Myers Police Department. Crews were working on the boom on the south side of Colonial Boulevard near the Home Depot, when it fell a couple of feet, according to Michael Rigsby with Lee County’s Department of Transportation. The boom, police said, pinned Maines by his leg and both hands.
Fellow Posen employees wrapped a chain around the boom and lifted it using a front-end loader, according to Fort Myers Fire Department report. Lee County emergency medical technicians rushed Maines to the hospital where he remains today. Hospital staff list him in good condition, though details of his injuries remain unclear.
