Bergenfield Home Damaged by Toppled Crane

Crane Collapse on Home Injures None New Jersey 2010A Birch Avenue home was severely damaged Thursday morning, after a crane toppled over onto the house, police said.

One person home at the time was not injured.

The crane, which had an arm that extended more than 90 feet, was in the middle of removing a tree when the machine fell, said Bergenfield Police Capt. Michael Carr.

Crane operator Kim Bianco, 43, of Almighty Tree Experts in River Edge, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for a knee injury she sustained bailing out of the crane, Carr said.

One person home at the time of the incident was not injured, Carr said.

Investigators from the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration were notified of the incident, and any additional investigation or safety violations would come through them, Carr said.
