Crane and Car Collide and Smash Into House

Crane & Car Collide Residential Home Smashed UK 2009Emergency services were called to Rockingham on the A6003 this morning when a crane and car collided before smashing into a home.

An air ambulance was called to the incident following the accident at 7.20am this morning.

The driver of crane was released and taken by the air ambulance to hospital. The driver of the car was taken to hospital in an ambulance by road.

Villagers heard a loud bang as the crane, which was travelling down Rockingham hill from Corby, was involved in a collision with a car thought to have been travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said the crane had hit a house and had taken a porch off the front of the property. Two adults and four children, who were in the home at the time, were not injured.

As well as the air ambulance, four fire crews, an ambulance and two police vehicles were at the scene.

A police spokesman said: “Motorists are being advised to avoid the A6003 in Rockingham this morning following an incident which has left the road closed for some time.

“A crane fell into a car and a house at around 7am this morning.

“The emergency services are currently at the scene which has been left the road blocked.”
