A man escapes with minor injuries after a large crane collapsed at a construction site in Thornhill. The crane came crashing down at a condominium site at Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenue around 8:30am Friday.
Emergency workers rushed to the scene after a witness called in the accident. The crane caused extensive damage to the building but luckily none of the construction workers were seriously hurt and all have been accounted for. The worker operating the crane did suffer some minor injuries and he was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The construction crew was at the site to built a new retirement home.
Its not yet known what caused the crane to collapse but the Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
