Crane Collapses at Medical Centre

Cherry Picker Collapses Above Roof UK 2009An NHS walk-in centre in Swindon was evacuated on Monday after a cherry picker collapsed above the roof.

The machinery was being used to clean windows at the Great Western Hospital when a pin became loose.

It was left hanging precariously above the roof of the centre, which is housed in a temporary building.

Mark Hemphill, Health and Safety Manager at the hospital, said the building was cleared in case the whole machine fell.

Another crane was brought in to lift the cherry picker away from the centre.
