Crews are surveying the damage at the electrical grid site where under-construction New Grande Boulevard meets Rhones Quarter Road. A large mobile crane fell on its side just before 10 a.m. today and took out the top section of one of the power grid towers.
Workers are up on the tower in bucket cranes working to try to secure the rest of the tower. The crane is on its side with twisted metal underneath. There was no sign of loose wires, so it is unclear whether tower was part of the active power grid.
Four men in bucket trucks are being lifted in the air, using power tools to secure the top part of the structure.
Fire officials say there were no injuries. The crane operator was able to escape, apparently unhurt.
