A part of a crane fell on electrical wires, causing heavy traffic along a stretch of EDSA at the boundary of Quezon City and Caloocan City Saturday afternoon, a radio report said.
Interviewed over dzBB radio, Darius Reyes of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to look for an alternative route to avoid getting caught in the traffic congestion.
Reyes said the crane was being used in the construction of an MRT-LRT loop at Bagong Barrio, Caloocan.
Reyes said heavy traffic has also affected Samson Road, Rizal Avenue, and McArthur Highway in Caloocan.
A dzBB radio update report said an unconscious worker was rushed to a hospital.
It was not yet clear what happened to the worker.
The report added that at least three to four cars were damage because of the incident.
Crane operator Floro Aberyo said too much weight on construction material lifted by the crane caused the cable that holds the boom and hook to break loose.
