A crane operator is recovering after an accident that leaves a crane and about a quarter of an acre burned in Midland County.
It happened around lunch-time in the median Interstate 20 just west of FM 1788. According to Midland firefighters, workers were trying to load the crane onto a trailer when the crane flipped off. That’s when the flames broke out.
Firefighters shut down the west bound lanes of the interstate because the black smoke was so bad. We’re told the crane and the grass was badly scorched.
The crane driver was taken to the hospital to get checked out. There’s no word on how badly he was hurt.
