A 53-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a load of rebar while working at a construction site near Kent and Slater streets. The man was injured on the third floor of a building under construction when he was hit by the load of rebar as it was being lifted by a crane. Paramedics were called to the scene just before 7 a.m. yesterday. The man, who suffered serious chest injuries, a collapsed lung, a leg fracture and facial cuts, was removed from the building via rescue stretcher and crane. He was then taken to hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
