Two brothers were injured Thursday when a crane bucket they were in tipped as they were working on a communications tower east of Hutchinson, dumping them to the ground.
Troy Lee, 38, and Kenny Lee, 36, both of Midlothian, Texas, were in the bucket attached to an unmanned crane while they were working on the tower at Fourth Avenue and Rayl Road about 4 p.m. Thursday, Reno County Sheriff’s Capt. Wayne Baughman said.
They leaned out to grab a guy wire and the bucket tipped, causing them both to fall about 30 feet, Baughman said. The bucket fell down, as well, but did not hit them.
Burrton EMS transported Troy Lee to Hutchinson Hospital, where his condition was unknown Thursday evening. Kenny Lee, who received minor injuries in the fall, was not taken to the hospital.
The brothers were working for Cycle Towers of Bristol, Va., which is building the tower for Hutchinson Community College, Baughman said.
