Port Washington, Wisconsin
A man is dead after a crane accident at Voeller Inc. in Port Washington Thursday morning.
Travis Tappa, 21, was killed while working at an industrial site on Moore Road. His family says he was standing on a bin and helping the crane’s operator load hoppers onto a truck. He was ready to hook the crane’s chains on the hopper so the operator could pick it up and load it on the truck, but the crane touched a power line at the same time Tappa grabbed the chains.
He fell about 20 feet and later died at Columbia St. Mary’s hospital in Milwaukee. An autopsy will be performed to determine whether he died from electrocution or the fall. An investigation into the incident is underway.
