A 39-year-old man died Thursday morning and another man was injured in a crane accident at the White Energy Ethanol Refinery in Hereford.
Laray Lee Tidmore of Idabel, Okla., was dead at the scene. Hereford Police Chief David Wagner identified the injured worker as 40-year-old James Lytle of Oak Grove, La.
The Hereford Police Department responded to 99 S. Progressive Road about 10:40 a.m. about the accident with the industrial crane. When officers arrived, both Wagner and Lytle had been removed from under the crane boom, police said.
Initial reports indicate that the two men were trying to disassemble the crane boom to lengthen the boom with an additional section, police said.
Emergency personnel say Lytle was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, but his condition wasn’t available Thursday night.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called to the scene to investigate the accident, police said.
