Port McNeill, B.C.
A 46-year-old truck driver was lucky to be alive Saturday after the metal boom of his crane made contact with a 138,000-volt power line last week.
Brian Evans was unloading empty fish totes from his flatbed truck when the crane made contact with the main power line serving much of northern Vancouver Island, causing a three-hour power outage in the area, 360 kilometres northwest of Victoria.
