Power Line Carrying 230,000 Volts Burns Construction Worker

08/31/01

Fremont, California

In what Fremont firefighters called an “extraordinary” survival, a 22-year-old construction worker was listed in fair condition after coming too close to a transmission line.

The electrical jolt that hit Adolfo Diaz of San Leandro was so powerful that it ripped a four-foot-wide hole in the asphalt under the portable lift he was working on.
