Crane tipped over while attempting to set a 48,700 lb concrete wall panel. The incident happened on June 5th.
The lattice boom failed in the center and folded to the left side. It narrowly missed two men who had no way of escape, with the boom coming down on one side of them, the cables and rigging in another direction.
A 28,000 lb panel which was braced and sitting on its foundation was knocked loose by the original wall panel and began to fall in on the men.
As the photos show, the crane boom folded at the perfect angle to catch the falling panel (32ft tall), and break it in half, before pushing it out of the way. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
