An employee at Metro Ready Mix died yesterday afternoon when he got caught in the gears of a crane he was repairing.
Ivan Ware, 37, was a longtime employee at Metro Ready Mix on Second Avenue North. He and two other employees were doing maintenance work on a large crane yesterday about 4:30 p.m. when Ware got entangled, Metro Homicide detective Tom Jones said.
Jones said the other workers couldnít help Ware so they called 911.
By the time police arrived, Ware had died. He was removed by medical examiners.
The motor was running while Ware was working, but Jones said that was not unusual. Detectives were still investigating the details of the accident last night.
