Original Story (July 7, 2012)

University of Texas Dallas students, staff and faculty honored the lives of two construction workers who died on campus last week.

On Wednesday the school held a moment of reflection on the campus. It was part of an effort to heal after a crane collapsed and killed two men on the new Arts and Technology Building construction site.

High winds from an incoming storm may have contributed to the accident, which is still under investigation.

“It’s incredibly tragic that something like this happened so I think our event today was important to kind of come together as a community and grieve for the families and offer our condolences and also reflect the tragic event that happens and what it means for our campus,” said Nate Fairbank, a UTD student.

The school is offering free counseling to help students and faculty cope with the tragedy.

The funeral for one of the workers will be held on Thursday.
